As coaches for Fusion, we are primarily going to be concerned and dedicated to providing an environment that is going to allow players to reach their full potential as people and soccer players. Regardless of their natural talent and skill level, all the players will be receiving equal amounts of focus and attention. Based on our coaching and playing experiences, we understand that players develop at different rates and that is why we are choosing never to ignore a player and their needs.
As members of our team, it is important that the players be committed to the team and improving their individual skills. Soccer is a sport that requires a high skill level, and the players will have to spend time honing their skills if they want to prosper as individual players and also as a team. We understand that players will be involved in activities outside of soccer and we encourage it, but we want to stress that the team’s success correlates with the level of commitment from every individual involved. There is no shortcut to long term success.
Players will be expected to come to training with the intent to learn, work hard, and enjoy themselves. The coaches will be holding the players to a high standard, and the players should have the same demeanor towards the coaches. We will be encouraging the players to ask questions and challenge the tactics because that has been proven to lead to a higher understanding of the sport and it helps the coaches to gauge progress.
We want to create an environment where the players are going to be comfortable with the coaches. Creating a healthy player/coach relationship will allow the players to discuss issues down the road regarding difficult topics such as playing time and attendance. We want our players to be problem solvers on and off the field, and that is why we will ask them to come to the coaches with any concerns before asking their parents to get involved.
